Senior Portraits, Salem, Oregon

Like the Wedding photography questions, I’ve been receiving many inquiries if I shoot senior portraits or senior photos. Quick answer, yes. Yes, I do.

You can find more info about packages here. Some examples:

You want your portrait? How bout the most photographed alley in Oregon

Posted on August 27th, 2009 by Will.

I know you’ve seen it. You can’t help it. Your walking downtown Salem, Oregon, and you pass by the alleyway. You know the one I’m talking about – the block ringed by State St., Liberty St., Court St. & Commercial St. And there is practically a line of subjects and their photographers for a senior or student portrait session. Invariably they also take the shot in the exact same spot in the alley. Now there are some really talented photographers around here, but how about a little creativity? You might as well get your photo taken in front of the same backdrop at Sears, JC Penney, or one of the other photo chains in the malls.

Update

Posted on April 7th, 2009 by Will.

Spent a bunch of time messing around with my main website and portfolio. There’s still changes to be made regarding content, but the Hire Me section got overhauled. This link is always available in the sidebar of this blog as well.

Approaching the busiest time of the year for the Academy. There’s the great news of hearing about the college acceptance letters our senior students are receiving. But this is also our recruitment period. All 12 middle schools will be sending their nominations our way. We’ll receive close to 120 nominations, will only be able to interview about half of them, and will finally only select 28 new students. The interview process includes the whole family. In the past there would be some obvious cases where our program didn’t match up with the family, but no longer. Practically, every family nominated has a case to be included in our program. As I said, the most difficult time of year for us. This issue just speaks to the fact that there is a greater need than even we can address in our communities.

Enough of the negative. I’m going to be participating in mock interviews at a local high school in a little while, and I have a portrait session scheduled this evening. I’m looking forward to it. And don’t forget you can Hire Me, too.

Hope you have a chance to get out and enjoy today’s weather.

Still enjoying photographing my students very much. The style needs to be fairly traditional, but my students for the most part have never had a chance to get photos done in this way (honestly, I’m not trying to inflate my abilities). They’re very happy with the results.

For me I quite enjoy the in-between moments. I hope to post a few more soon.

Some of my students demanded balance after I posted Josue’s photo yesterday.

Most recent shots from the Koni-Omega

These are the most recent shots from my Koni-Omega medium format camera. I’m happy with the results, but I’ll have more to say about the process in another post. With no meter, I’m most satisfied that I can pretty much figure out the proper settings for a more or less accurate exposure.
