HMB Visual is launched!
Posted on January 22nd, 2010 by Will.
I alluded to this in yesterday’s post:
HMB Visual is a photography & design studio featuring William Bragg Photography and Neanderthal Productions. It was created over some favorite libations at Venti’s Basement Bar and Pete’s Place bringing together a talented, dedicated and creative team. The brainchild of photographer William Bragg, the other team members consist of designer Timmy Myles & aspiring photographer and production man, Jake Horton. The new studio is located at 343 Court St. NE downtown Salem.
Look for more information really soon.

Senior Portraits, Salem, Oregon
Posted on September 10th, 2009 by Will.
Like the Wedding photography questions, I’ve been receiving many inquiries if I shoot senior portraits or senior photos. Quick answer, yes. Yes, I do.
You can find more info about packages here. Some examples:
You should realize this before you call.

Wedding Photographer, Salem, Oregon
Posted on September 2nd, 2009 by Will.

I’m often asked if I shoot weddings.
I don’t advertise I do weddings. (this post excepted)
The answer is more complicated than it should be. But the quick and easy answer is yes, I do shoot weddings.
To briefly elaborate, I think it’s fairly important that you like and respect your photographer to get the results you desire. As I feel strongly about this, I don’t just accept any job, especially weddings, unless we meet first and decide if we are a ‘fit’ for one another.
This is a (severely) abridged example of a wedding I shot recently in Forest Grove, Oregon:

You want your portrait? How bout the most photographed alley in Oregon
Posted on August 27th, 2009 by Will.
I know you’ve seen it. You can’t help it. Your walking downtown Salem, Oregon, and you pass by the alleyway. You know the one I’m talking about – the block ringed by State St., Liberty St., Court St. & Commercial St. And there is practically a line of subjects and their photographers for a senior or student portrait session. Invariably they also take the shot in the exact same spot in the alley. Now there are some really talented photographers around here, but how about a little creativity? You might as well get your photo taken in front of the same backdrop at Sears, JC Penney, or one of the other photo chains in the malls.

Yankees Barber Shop
Posted on March 18th, 2009 by Will.
I grew up a huge Red Sox fan. Baseball and the Red Sox hold a special place in my heart in no small part due to its role in my relationship with my Dad and my brothers. Of course if you are at all faintly aware of MLB, you know that one of the biggest rivalries in United States professional sports is between the Red Sox and the NY Yankees.
Locally here in Salem, Mike is a barber and the owner of the O.K. Barber Shop in town (oldest in town), and a huge Yankees fan. His barber shop reflects that fact. And even though I’m a Red Sox fan, Mike let me come in and take a few photos – something I’ve wanted to do for a while.

Elvis has entered the building
Posted on March 11th, 2009 by Will.
Jeff and Rita held their wedding a couple of weeks ago. I was lucky enough to be able to shoot it for them. Jeff was willing/wanting to have a Las Vegas wedding, while Rita was more inclined to have a wedding where more friends and family would be able to celebrate the special occasion with them. Though it is widely known, it still must be stated, Rita is one very cool lady. Knowing Jeff’s affinity for Elvis (sidenote: Both Jeff & I prefer the old fat Elvis), and his interest in having Elvis preside over a Las Vegas wedding, she did the next best thing.
She had Steven, who would be presiding, fake a reason to leave just as the ceremony was beginning and leave Jeff standing at the altar. The procession begins and still no Steve. You can just see the confusion and frustration mounting on Jeff’s visage, when finally, here comes Steve – dressed as Elvis!. How much does Rita Rock?!?

One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Posted on March 4th, 2009 by Will.
This is an update to a project I started a little while ago. I’ve now included the project in my online portfolio.
A night photo shoot taken a the Oregon State Hospital – most famously known for being the location of the film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. This facility will be demolished soon to make way for a more modern psychiatric facility.
Changes to the portfolio
Posted on February 25th, 2009 by Will.

I’ve made some changes to my portfolio. I’ve changed the organization to People, Music, & Place. In particular the Place category is totally new to the portfolio. I sure wouldn’t mind if you clicked on over to my portfolio, checked things out, and let me know what you think.

My students plus 1
Posted on January 21st, 2009 by Will.
It’s difficult at times to shoot for traditional purposes, and to have the students like the photos. This set contains 29 students (of 112) and Joshua. It’s been very rewarding to do this shoot. Normally, we’re working together on other projects. (click on the photo for a larger view)
